Are we getting a stimulus check for 2010?

Friday, February 12th, 2010

Currently there is talks of getting a 2010 stimulus check that would be similar to that of the 2009 stimulus check.

This 2010 Stimulus Check would be another $250 stimulus check sent out to those on social security, and military veterans that qualify.   For those that are working, there is still a $400 yearly tax credit that is applied to the entire year, so instead of the $20/paycheck you saw for the half of 2009 it was active, it will be a bit less because it is being covered over the entire year of 2010.

When does the 2010 stimulus check come out?

Stimulus check for 2010, when does it come out?

The 2010 stimulus check will probably come out the same time it did last year for the 2009 stimulus check in late spring / early summer.  This will more then likely be a $250 stimulus check sent those that are retired on social security or are veterans from the military.

Everyone else still has the same stimulus benefits that are being carried over from 2009.

I’m interesting in applying for a stimulus check for my mother, who’s is 76yrs old and is currently on a fix income.

Monday, January 18th, 2010

Stimulus Check Question: I’m interesting in applying for a stimulus check for my mother, who’s is 76yrs old and is currently on a fix income. So any money can help, What steps i need to do to obtain these funds?

Answer: The stimulus check isn’t something that you apply for, it is something that you either qualify for or you don’t.  The 2009 stimulus check that were sent out last spring/summer were sent to those on social security (as of Jan 2009), military veterans and retired rail road workers.  If your mother was in any of those categories, she should have received a stimulus check.

There are stipulations such as, if she was working (which may or may not apply to your mother) she would not get a $250 stimulus check, or else would have to pay it back, because she would be getting the higher amount tax credit taken out of each paycheck.

Going into 2010 there is possible word of a 2010 stimulus check again for those on social security, and possibly for the veterans.  Those that are working are still getting the same tax credit on each paycheck to total $400-$600 over the coarse of the year.

President Obama lowered expectations in 2010

Tuesday, January 5th, 2010

In 2009, President Obama set some mighty high goals for his first year in office.  To his credit, he hit most of them.  The big winners were the multi billion dollar stimulus package, making progress for financial reform, lowering unemployment rates and dealing with terrorist threats.

Since this is a blog about the Stimulus Check, I won’t go over the points from the other achievements President Obama has made.   The Stimulus Package that he signed into law shortly after coming into office created many opportunities and hope for businesses and individuals.

Not everyone can agree on how they see eye to eye on if what Obama did was the best, but it did work.  He got money into the hands of most of the people who needed it most.

Most of the plans from the stimulus package about helping those that are currently employed remain in effect through 2010.  For those currently not working and retired, there will more then likely be a 2010 stimulus check coming your way this spring/summer.

President Obama proposes new stimulus check and stimulus funding

Tuesday, December 8th, 2009

Today in Washington President Obama has called for a new round of stimulus spending for our country to help with the staggering economy.  This new stimulus funding could total over $150 Billion Dollars to jolt the economy back on track.

These funds are primarily going to go be used for more road construction, new bridges, tax breaks for small businesses, tax breaks for energy efficient home upgrades and a 2010 stimulus check.  All of these are aimed at getting money flowing, getting people employed and getting money in the hands of those that need it.

President Obama wants to give an additional $250 to seniors and veterans, similar to the 2009 stimulus check.  This check would be handed out in a similar manner to those that received one this year, plus those that weren’t eligible this year that would be for next year’s stimulus check would also receive one.

Do you have to payback the stimulus check?

Tuesday, November 10th, 2009

The stimulus check is not something that you need to pay back to the government like a loan, nor do you need to pay taxes on it come tax time in April.  The stimulus check is considered free money for you to do with as you please.  The main reason for it was that you would spend it in hopes of stimulating the economy, hence the name, stimulus check.

To repeat, you do not have to pay back the stimulus money that you received during the year.

Veterans may get a second stimulus check in 2010

Thursday, October 15th, 2009

An estimated 2 million veterans may be eligible to receive a 2nd $250 stimulus check in 2010.

President Obama thinks that a second stimulus check in 2010 would help both the economy and the veterans that received theses new checks. The plan would very similar to how stimulus checks were sent out in 2009 to those senior citizens, retired and disabled workers and the other groups that qualified.

This plan for a 2nd stimulus check would just need to get lawmakers approval and reasoning on why it would be beneficial for those that would receive it. This only applies to those veterans that are living in the United States, Puerto Rico or Guam.

This round of stimulus would cost the US Government about 13 billion dollars.

Stimulus Checks sent to 1,700 Inmates in a Massachusetts Prison

Thursday, August 27th, 2009

The federal government recently made an error sending out $250 Stimulus Checks.

1,700 inmates in a Massachusetts Prison received a $250 stimulus check each totaling an error of $425,000 at the expense of the Social Security Administration.  Spokesman for the Social Security Administration had this to say about the inmates that received a stimulus check recently.

The stimulus checks were sent out to these individuals because official records did not accurately reflect that they were in prison.

This recent find is sparking an inquiry into a broader audit on how stimulus funds have been spent and issues over the last several months.  There have been complaints by the Republicans in Washington DC over how the $787 Billion dollar stimulus program has been managed this year.

House Minority leader Eric Cantor had this to say about the Stimulus Checks being sent to the inmates.

It is unacceptable for convicts to be getting stimulus funds. It speaks to the lack of oversight and accountability to have such nonsense coming out of Washington. Where is the accountability?

Veterans to receive $250 Stimulus Check

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

There are nearly 2 million veterans in the United States that will be getting a 2009 stimulus check from the US Government soon.  This past Monday the Department of Veterans Affairs started to mail out many of the $250 stimulus checks being sent out to all of the eligible veterans.

Like other stimulus checks sent out in 2008 and earlier this year in 2009, these stimulus checks are tax free that are to be used to stimulate the economy.  The Department of Veterans Affairs will be sending out $500 Million dollars worth of stimulus checks to the 1.9 million veterans that qualify to receive a 2009 stimulus check.

To qualify for a $250 stimulus check from the Department of Veterans Affairs, the beneficiaries must have received some sort of VA Compensation, VA Pension, DIC (Dependency and indemnity compensation) or spina bifida benefits some time between the beginning of November 2008 and the end of January 2009.

There is no application to file for the 2009 stimulus check as the records to determine who is eligible is based on their monthly VA payments.   Those receiving checks can expect to receive them in the same manner that they receive their monthly payments, either by mail or direct deposit.
