The stimulus checks were sent out over a set schedule the last couple years.  The date the stimulus check was sent out varied for the year it was sent out.

Industries booming from the 2009 stimulus package

Sunday, May 2nd, 2010

There are 3 industries that are set to grow thanks to the 2009 stimulus package.  These industries received or are set to receive billions of dollars of stimulus funds from the stimulus package.

The industries are

  • Telecommunications – $7.2 billion is set to spent on increasing the broadband Internet throughout the United States.
  • Health Care – $20 billion set aside to help digitizing medical records and other advances.
  • Clean Energy – $43 billion was added to clean energy providing funds to help grow everything from solar panals, wind turbines, electric grids, batteries, etc.  This will help our country become less dependant on non-renewable forms of energy.

In each of these fields, the stimulus dollars are going to allow each of them to grow and provide jobs for the future.

Do You Have To Claim Your Stimulus Check You Received In 2009?

Sunday, May 2nd, 2010

The stimulus check that you received in 2009 is not tax detuctable and something you don’t need to file on your taxes in April 2010.  You will not need to file it on your taxes.

If you were working or on unemployment during 2009, then when you file taxes any part of the stimulus package that affected you will automatically be taken care of.  Any benifits from the stimulus check will be worked into the 1040 form.

Are we getting a stimulus check for 2010?

Friday, February 12th, 2010

Currently there is talks of getting a 2010 stimulus check that would be similar to that of the 2009 stimulus check.

This 2010 Stimulus Check would be another $250 stimulus check sent out to those on social security, and military veterans that qualify.   For those that are working, there is still a $400 yearly tax credit that is applied to the entire year, so instead of the $20/paycheck you saw for the half of 2009 it was active, it will be a bit less because it is being covered over the entire year of 2010.

Is there a Stimulus Check for 2009

I’m interesting in applying for a stimulus check for my mother, who’s is 76yrs old and is currently on a fix income.

Monday, January 18th, 2010

Stimulus Check Question: I’m interesting in applying for a stimulus check for my mother, who’s is 76yrs old and is currently on a fix income. So any money can help, What steps i need to do to obtain these funds?

Answer: The stimulus check isn’t something that you apply for, it is something that you either qualify for or you don’t.  The 2009 stimulus check that were sent out last spring/summer were sent to those on social security (as of Jan 2009), military veterans and retired rail road workers.  If your mother was in any of those categories, she should have received a stimulus check.

There are stipulations such as, if she was working (which may or may not apply to your mother) she would not get a $250 stimulus check, or else would have to pay it back, because she would be getting the higher amount tax credit taken out of each paycheck.

Going into 2010 there is possible word of a 2010 stimulus check again for those on social security, and possibly for the veterans.  Those that are working are still getting the same tax credit on each paycheck to total $400-$600 over the coarse of the year.

Are you asking: I didn’t get my 2009 stimulus check?

Friday, October 23rd, 2009

Many people who thought they were getting a stimulus check didn’t get one.  The reasons ranged from

  • I never got a letter from the government saying I was getting a stimulus check.
  • My tax return that I filed in April said I was getting a stimulus check this year.
  • My husband / wife / neighbor / friend got a stimulus check but I didn’t get one.
  • To one of a many range of other opinions.

Did you get a 2009 stimulus check this year? What did you do with it?

Did you not get a 2009 stimulus check? How do you think they should do a 2010 stimulus check differently next year?

2009 Stimulus Check

Saturday, May 30th, 2009

In the recent stimulus package passed by President Obama earlier this year, otherwise known as the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, Obama provided many forms of stimulus and stimulus checks to provide the economy.  The only mentions of a 2009 stimulus check for the American public were in two places in the recently passed Stimulus bill.

The first is a 2009 stimulus check for those on social security incomes, military pensions and railroad pensions.  This is a $250 2009 stimulus check that is a one time payment similar to the 2008 stimulus check that President Bush issued last year.  To qualify for the 2009 stimulus check you had to have already been on social security by the end of 2008 to receive your 2009 stimulus check in May 2009.  If you started your social security income January 1, 2009 or later you do not qualify for this years stimulus check.  However if there is a 2010 stimulus check similar to how the 2009 stimulus check worked you would qualify next year for that stimulus check.

The second part of the 2009 stimulus check is a tax rebate that amounts to $400 if you are single or $800 if you are married over the course of 2009.  Starting in April 2009 the government is lowering the taxes withheld from your paychecks to the amount of about about $20/week so that over the course of the year it would amount to $400 (or $800).  This is the only 2009 stimulus check that is available to those that are working.  The 2009 stimulus check is essentially a $400 check paid over the course of the year.

This 2009 stimulus check that is being paid out weekly via a tax rebate will be in effect for 2010 as well.  The amount of the money making up the 2010 stimulus check on a weekly basis is less then this years $20/week because it is spread out over the course of the entire year instead of 8 months.

There is not a singular 2009 stimulus check for those on employment, it is split up into several incentives.  President Obama provided the following ways to help those on unemployment through the 2009 stimulus package.

First Social Security check was in 2009

Tuesday, May 12th, 2009

If you ware one of the many people who are on Social Security and wondering if you are getting a 2009 stimulus check it will depend on when you started receiving your social security.  The 2009 stimulus checks are for those who have started receiving their social security checks by the end of 2008 so that as of Jan 1, 2009 they were already in the system.  Even if you started up in Nov or Dec of 2008 you would be eligible for a 2009 stimulus check just like Vice President Joe Biden who started getting his Social Security checks in Nov 2008.

If your first social security check was sometime starting in 2009, even Jan or Feb 2009 you are not eligible for a 2009 stimulus check.  The way the rules were written for the 2009 stimulus package that was created and signed into law by President Obama stated that only those already on social security by the end of 2008 would get a 2009 stimulus check.
